At roughly 12,000 square feet, this new custom-built lakefront home on Geneva Lake was created to host a large family across seasons. Summer weekends on the water, holidays by the fire. But it needed to feel just as good when it was just the two homeowners and the lake.

Sophisticated and polished with a little hit of funk repeated throughout — this home leans into a modified Ralph Lauren palette of darker wood tones and dark bronze finishes. Layered rugs and textured upholstery soften all that height and scale, while the light fixtures are a delight, in unexpected finishes from ebonized oak to rope.

It bridges the gap between a grounded lake cottage and a home built for scale.
