We’ve worked with this family on three other homes before they renovated their lakefront house in Madison, Wisconsin. By the fourth, the brief was almost unspoken: warm, layered taupes, and the one word the client came back to every time, cozy. More than anything, she wanted it to feel like the homes they already loved.

This home doesn’t read like the traditional beach house. Instead, her signature color palette of rich taupe tones wraps the rooms in texture and warmth, exactly the cozy the client loves. The kitchen pairs Iceberg countertops with custom cabinetry, and the dining room gathers around a Gregorius Pineo table. Downstairs holds some surprises: a media room with swings hung from the ceiling, and a spa room built around a cryo tank she couldn't wait to use. The primary bedroom turns moody and soft at once, a custom bed wrapped in bouclé against a full wall of gathered velvet. 

A lake house that feels just like home to them.
