Our clients purchased a beautiful home in Winnetka on Chicago's North Shore with great bones — but everything about the existing finishes skewed heavy. Dark tones, dated tile, oversized details that made the rooms feel like they belonged to someone else. They wanted timeless, sophisticated, a little glamorous — and still warm enough for kids and backgammon nights.

The marble entry tile was one of the first selections and it set the tone for everything that followed. Sheened wallpapers and custom commissioned art sit alongside specialty rugs, alabaster lighting, and limestone throughout. The hearth room is its own jewel box — wrapped in warm tones from ceiling to drapery, with four chairs pulled around a backgammon table. Every room balances refinement and approachability, polished but never too precious to use.
