October Belongs to the Living Room

When evenings get darker, people gravitate to the same place: the living room. It’s no longer a pass-through—it’s where October happens. Sofas that pull you in. Fireplaces that take over. Lighting that softens the whole room instead of glaring down. This is the season of staying in, and the living room deserves to feel like it.

Lounge, Host, Recharge

A good living room isn’t just pretty—it’s multi-purpose. You need a sofa that can handle Tuesday night homework sprawls and still look editorial when friends drop in on Saturday. Chairs that swivel toward the conversation or the view. Ottomans that double as cocktail tables. When the furniture plan works, you stop “managing” the room and just live in it.

Fireplaces Take Over

By October, the fireplace becomes the gravitational pull of a house. If the design feels weak, the whole room falls flat. Strong stonework, a mantel with presence, integrated lighting—these details let the fireplace claim the spotlight without overpowering everything else. The right design makes people want to gather there, whether or not the fire is even on.

Mood Lighting & Material Mixes

Lighting is the seasonal switch. Instead of one harsh overhead, we layer sconces, lamps, dimmers, and candlelight so the room shifts with the moment. Add in the right materials—bouclé you actually want to curl into, matte metals that catch candlelight, velvets that look richer at night—and suddenly the space feels both intentional and effortless.

Fall Without the Cliché

Here’s the thing: seasonal styling can go downhill fast. Pumpkins everywhere, orange overload, a living room that feels like a craft store display. Which, we get– it's a vibe! If you love that, go for it!! But, that vibe doesn’t make us feel calm and peaceful, so I opt for an alternative.

Our fix? Keep it sculptural and subtle.

A moody palette that nods to fall.

A candle you are excited to light every night.

When a living room works, you don’t think about the design. You just think, this is exactly where I want to be right now.
