A couple built this family home from the ground up in Syracuse, New York, for themselves and their four boys. There's almost always a game on, a meal coming together, family and friends filling the table — the full, open house they designed every room around. The balance was delicate, taking a busy household in stride while still feeling as elevated as their taste.

The rooms are calm and composed, and the art is where the boldness lives. Against soft neutrals of cream millwork and warm oak, the collection brings all the color and nerve, starting in the entry with a vivid Thandiwe Muriu portrait that greets you on the way in. That same confidence runs through the house, in one-of-a-kind pieces the couple has gathered over years. And then downstairs, all that polish gives way to a slide that drops from the upper floor onto a full basketball court.

Refined for them, unforgettable for the boys.
